Imperativo Negativo

The imperativo negativo (negative imperative) tells someone not to do something, formed by placing "não" before the present subjunctive for all persons. Unlike the affirmative imperative, negative commands use the same subjunctive forms for both tu and você: "Não fales/fale!" (Don't speak!), "Não comas/coma!" (Don't eat!). This uniformity makes the negative imperative more straightforward than its affirmative counterpart. The negative imperative is essential for prohibitions, warnings, and advice against certain actions: "Não te preocupes" (Don't worry), "Não façam isso" (Don't do that). Combined with the affirmative, it provides complete command capability in Portuguese.
